The General Practice Awards, supported by Pulse and Nursing in Practice, are a prestigious national celebration. We are excited to hear about the brilliant individuals you work with, the dedicated teams striving to provide better patient care, and the innovative projects being carried out in primary care across the UK.

Your step-by-step instructions on how to enter the General Practice Awards:

Step 1: Download your entry form or forms from the healthcare award category list below.

Step 2: Compile your entry, collating data and evidence to support your points. Gather any photos, testimonials, graphs, or infographics that can add strength to your nomination. 

Step 3: Click here to make your nomination and upload your documents, completing all the necessary fields.

Upon clicking submit, you will receive a confirmation email. We will then be in touch in early September with the results once our expert judges have completed their marking of all entries.

Sustainability in Practice Award - NEW!

This award seeks to recognise an individual or team who have sought to embrace sustainability within practice policies or initiatives. A successful application will outline how the individual/team identified a need, researched the best solutions, and implemented an initiative or project. The application also needs to demonstrate the positive impact that has resulted. Entries may relate to one specific project/programme or a wider campaign within the practice to reduce carbon footprint and waste.

Digital Innovation Award - NEW!

This award seeks to recognise an individual or team who have embraced the use of technology in order to make clinical or procedural improvements. A successful application will outline how the individual/team identified a need, researched the best solutions and implemented the new technology, initiative or project, and the positive impact that has resulted. The individual or team may have been involved in developing/inventing a new solution however this category is restricted to healthcare professionals and is not for suppliers/manufacturers. Technology can be hardware or software. Examples may include AI, telephony, triage, diagnostic tools or online solutions.

Clinical Improvement: Long Term Conditions

This award is looking for a team or individual who has demonstrated excellence when supporting patients with chronic conditions - helping to improve their lives and the management of their symptoms. We are looking for projects, strategies, and schemes that have been implemented to improve long-term patient care.

Clinical Improvement: Mental Health

This award seeks to recognise an individual or team who have demonstrated excellence when it comes to improving mental health services in their area, through an ongoing high-quality standard of care or through an innovative project or scheme.

Clinical Improvement: Public Health and Prevention

This award seeks to recognise an individual or team who have demonstrated excellence when working to improve healthcare in their local area; raising awareness, encouraging engagement, and ensuring the wellbeing of the local population.

The Extended Practice Team Member

This award seeks to recognise a member of the wider practice team who has had a positive impact on improving patient care, practice efficiency, or clinical workload in their practice/area. They could be a GP pharmacist, paramedic, physicians associate, HCA, mental health practitioner, social prescribing link worker or any role not covered by the other award categories.

General Practitioner of the Year

Open to all qualified GPs practising in the UK, this award is looking for someone who has helped to turn a struggling practice around; made improvements in the morale and wellbeing of their colleagues; or campaigned for change in their local area.

The General Practice Team of the Year

We are looking for teams who are striving to improve patient care, enhancing services offered, and working to develop their skill mix.
We seek to recognise the work of a multidisciplinary team that has had a positive impact on improving the patient experience in their practice and/or local area.

GP Trainee of the Year/Rising Star Award

Open to all UK medical graduates in postgraduate training, we are looking for evidence of enthusiasm, a keen desire to learn, imagination, and a contribution aligned with the objectives of the Five Year Forward View.
We invite applications from Trainees themselves and also their colleagues.

This category is aimed at PCNs who have developed in maturity.  The network will be able to showcase a population health approach, using data to evidence impact. 

The award is seeking to identify a PCN who can demonstrate that, as a result of their maturity, they have been able to integrate services in this way and as a result can highlight improvements to the lives of patients as well as on the primary care workforce locally.

This award seeks to recognise individual pharmacists or teams working in a practice/the community/a PCN team who have made an outstanding contribution to patient care in their local area. It is open to all qualified pharmacists practising in the UK. We invite applications from pharmacists themselves and nominations from colleagues.

Receptionist/Reception Team of the Year

This award seeks to recognise a receptionist or reception team who are making an outstanding contribution to their practice and its patients. We invite applications from receptionists themselves and also from colleagues.
Applicants should demonstrate evidence that their attention to detail has improved the organisation of the surgery, ambience, and patient experience.
